If you've enjoyed a swiftwater course with me in the past and it left you wanting more, this is the course for you! New and challenging scenarios and technical skills will be just what you need to stay challenged and keep things fresh. This ACA Swiftwater Rescue Level 4 course teachers the of fundamentals of Rescue. This course is highly interactive and is designed to challenge all levels of whitewater enthusiasts. This unique venue is on the Middle Fork Willamette River. The Swiftwater Rescue workshop teaches recognition and avoidance of common river hazards, execution of self-rescue techniques, and rescue techniques for paddlers in distress. Emphasis is placed both on personal safety and on simple, commonly used skills. Fundamental and more advanced techniques for dealing with hazards that carry greater risks for both victim and rescuer, such as strainers, rescue vest applications, entrapments, and pins, also are practiced. Scenarios will provide an opportunity for participants to practice their skills both individually and within a team/group context. Camping (included in the cost) at a Group Site on the river at Black Canyon Campground. Located 8 miles Northwest of Oakridge on the Middle Fork of the Willamette river. *Prerequisite of a L4 SW Course in the past 3 years. Course is $290. $280 for ACA members. $100. Deposit to secure spot. Remainder due 7 days prior to course.
