Service Description

Introducing Callay Boire-Shedd. This ACA Swiftwater Rescue Level 4 course is for a female boater and aspiring guide. This course teaches the fundamentals of river rescue. It is highly interactive and is designed to challenge all levels of whitewater enthusiasts. This unique venue is on the Middle Fork of the Willamette River. The Swiftwater Rescue course teaches recognition and avoidance of common river hazards, execution of self-rescue techniques, and specific rescue skills for paddlers in distress. The emphasis is placed on both personal safety and common rescue skills. In addition, fundamental and advanced techniques are taught for dealing with hazards that carry greater risks for both the victim and rescuer such as; strainers, rescue vest applications, entrapments, and pins. Scenarios will provide an opportunity for participants to practice their skills both individually and within a team/group context. Course is $300. $100 deposit to secure your spot. Remainder due 7 days prior to course start date. Hi! My name is Callay Boire-Shedd. I am an American Canoe Associate Level 4 Swiftwater Rescue Instructor and an ACA Level 3 River Kayak instructor. My passion is inspiring and supporting a healthy and safe whitewater community and fostering everyone’s enjoyment of the water. I have been a whitewater raft guide and kayak instructor as well as an adaptive raft guide since 2019. Can't wait to learn together!
